One Day At A Time
Well I finally got around to admit that I might have a problem.
But I thought it was just too damn big of a mountain to climb.
Well I got down on my knees and said ‘Hey!’
‘I just cant go on livin’ this way!’
With the legendary Joe Walsh coming to play in Colorado it seemed like a good time to highlight one of his songs in this edition. Of course, with so many great songs created by this hard working music man, the delimma is which song to pick?
Well, since our main theme for this edition is ‘faith’, it got me thinking about his song called ‘One Day At A Time’, which you can find on the 2012 album entitled ‘Analog Man’.
This song is about Joe Walsh’s recovery from heavy alcohol and cocaine addictions and the main message is that, to break free of those, one needs to ask for help. Now, to get help though, one must first have faith that they CAN be free, and also faith in the help itself, enough to call out for it.
Joe took that leap of faith and got help and has been freed from the poisons that held him prisoner. A shining example of faith in action.
In the description below the YouTube video of this song he wrote the following message, which I leave you with in the hope that anyone of you out there who is struggling with your own poison prisons, will find the faith to ask for help as well.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlfCyHbLdpI – “This song is about my path out of the darkness of drug addiction and alcoholism. The message is that there IS a way out and a new life waiting in recovery that is good. The first step is to ask for help… I’m doing this because if it helps one person – it was worth it. It’s by giving back that we receive and I am eternally grateful for my sobriety and my life today.” – Joe Walsh
