Rainbow In The Sky
“Cause in a town called sorrow there was joy
Yes, and there I met the painless tear
Freed, he expressed emotions that egos fear
My life is full of colors yeah my mind is clear”
David Nesta “Ziggy” Marley is a Jamaican musician and leader of the band, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers. His 2003 single ‘Rainbow in the sky’ is a fantastic positive raggae song about faith and promise and finding joy. The rainbow we all see in the sky, according to what is written, was placed there by God as a reminder to him and a promise to us.
“I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. And it shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud, and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.”
What’s even more interesting is that in his first vision from God, the prophet Ezekiel revealed, “As the rainbow appears that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of His brightness all around.” There’s more. The apostle John, “looked, and behold, a door opened in heaven, and He who was sitting was in appearance like a jasper stone and a sardius stone, and a rainbow was around the throne.”
So if the rainbow is the very likeness of God’s light, then it’s true what Ziggy says, there is a rainbow in the sky “all the time”. When you realize this, it becomes much easier to find “mercy in every sunrise” and be “born again from the womb of the night”. When you know that the clouds will pass and the sun will come out and the beauty of God’s presence in the rainbow awaits you, then you become free of the grip of fear, and things become clear.
You just have to look for the rainbow in everything. Like Ziggy says, “Don’t be blind.” See through the material into the spiritual with your minds eye, and know that no matter what you may be going through, if you focus on the rainbow you will find joy, even “in a town called sorrow”. – KD
